Festival Photography

Festival photography is creatively and physically demanding, requiring a keen eye and constant movement to capture the full 360-degree experience—on stage, backstage, and in the audience. A festival is more than just performances; it’s an ecosystem where every element plays a role. From the energy of the crowd to the behind-the-scenes moments, the best stories can emerge from anywhere.

Norm began shooting large festivals over 20 years ago as the lead photographer for Portland’s Waterfront Blues Festival, a role he continues today. Over the years, he has built an impressive portfolio of festival work, including Pickathon, Montavilla Jazz Festival, and the Portland Jazz Festival, which spans two weeks every year. In 2024, he also photographed the Rockstar Pro Skateboard Tour for the Portland Tribune.
