Waterfront Blues Festival
The WATERFRONT BLUES FESTIVAL is Portland’s premier music festival and the largest blues festival on the West Coast. Since its inception in 1988, the festival has become a beloved summer tradition, drawing world-renowned blues, soul, funk, and roots artists to the banks of the Willamette River. Held annually over the Fourth of July weekend at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the event blends electrifying performances with a community-driven mission, raising millions for local hunger relief efforts.
More than just a music festival, Waterfront Blues Festival is a gathering place for music lovers, featuring live performances, riverboat cruises, artist workshops, and late-night jam sessions. It celebrates the deep legacy of blues music while fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
As the festival’s longtime lead photographer, Norm captures its essence from every angle—on stage, backstage, and in the crowd. His images document the festival’s energy, artistry, and spirit, serving as a visual archive that supports its marketing, promotions, and storytelling year-round.
